CARLEY RABBIT
Wild-Modern-Traditional
Carley Rabbit is a multifaceted artist, naturalist, conservationist, educator, and entrepreneur, driven by a profound passion for the natural world and a deep respect for the ancient ways. Her artistic journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to preserving the traditions of our ancestors and fostering a deeper connection between humans and the land.
Born in Wisconsin and raised in Sweden and the Pacific Northwest, Carley's nomadic upbringing instilled in her a profound appreciation for the diversity and beauty of the natural world. Her artistic expression is a culmination of her experiences, observations, and fascination with the intricate relationships between humans, nature, and the environment.

As a high school student, Carley co-founded a T-shirt business, which allowed her to transform her paintings into wearable art, foreshadowing her future endeavors. This entrepreneurial spirit continued to evolve as she pursued higher education at Alderleaf Wilderness College, where she immersed herself in biology, ecology, outdoor education, and ancestral skills. It was during this period that she discovered the ancient art of flint knapping, which would become a cornerstone of her artistic practice. After graduating, Carley co-founded her second business, refining her primitive skills and practicing the art of working with obsidian.
In 2020, she embarked on a solo venture, establishing Carley Rabbit, a platform dedicated to creating unique, handcrafted pieces that honor the persistence of ancient knowledge. Her work encompasses a range of mediums, including primitive crafts, clothing, jewelry, and knives, all crafted from ethically sourced natural materials. Carley's artistic vision extends beyond the realm of visual art. As a general Falconer, she is an ardent advocate for wildlife conservation, participating in raptor rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

Her experience as a wilderness skills instructor has further solidified her commitment to sharing her knowledge and inspiring a new generation of nature-minded folk. Through her art, Carley seeks to inspire a sense of reverence for the land and our shared human history. Her creations are tangible manifestations of her reverence for the ancient ways, crafted to be held, carried, and cherished.

By working primarily with obsidian, bone, buckskin, and antler, Carley Rabbit's art embodies the essence of her philosophy: to reconnect people with the natural world and to honor the persistence of ancient knowledge. Carley's hope is that her art will ignite a sense of wonder, inspire curiosity, and foster a deeper appreciation for the intricate web of life that binds us all.
